Narrative:
About XA00Z, just prior to descent to phl, the purser called to inform me that a 45 yr old female passenger was experiencing physical stress relating to her diabetic condition. She felt faint, dizziness, paleness, clammy skin, mild sweating and nausea. An emt passenger took her pulse and blood pressure and, while normal, the passenger continued to experience breathing difficulty in addition to the above symptoms. As I awaited further information from the purser, I asked ZDV for direct to phl. After further discussions with the purser, I decided that the passenger needed immediate assistance and declared a medical emergency with ZNY and notified air carrier in phl. We were cleared to the OM for runway 27L, kept our speed up to 320 KTS until about 15 mi from the apt and landed uneventfully. All of the controling agencies and air carrier personnel were very responsive and professional. Medical personnel met the passenger, evaluated her and took her away for further treatment. As might be expected everyone involved -- from the flight attendants, passenger, ATC facilities and air carrier ground personnel -- were totally professional and competent! The purser submitted a passenger report identing the distressed passenger and helpful passenger (who by the way was an armed gsa employee seated in row xx, I believe).

Title: B757-200 CREW HAD AN ILL PAX ON THE ACFT. THE CAPT DECLARED A MEDICAL EMER AND HAD MEDICAL PERSONNEL RESPOND TO THE ARR GATE.
Narrative: ABOUT XA00Z, JUST PRIOR TO DSCNT TO PHL, THE PURSER CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT A 45 YR OLD FEMALE PAX WAS EXPERIENCING PHYSICAL STRESS RELATING TO HER DIABETIC CONDITION. SHE FELT FAINT, DIZZINESS, PALENESS, CLAMMY SKIN, MILD SWEATING AND NAUSEA. AN EMT PAX TOOK HER PULSE AND BLOOD PRESSURE AND, WHILE NORMAL, THE PAX CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE BREATHING DIFFICULTY IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS. AS I AWAITED FURTHER INFO FROM THE PURSER, I ASKED ZDV FOR DIRECT TO PHL. AFTER FURTHER DISCUSSIONS WITH THE PURSER, I DECIDED THAT THE PAX NEEDED IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE AND DECLARED A MEDICAL EMER WITH ZNY AND NOTIFIED ACR IN PHL. WE WERE CLRED TO THE OM FOR RWY 27L, KEPT OUR SPD UP TO 320 KTS UNTIL ABOUT 15 MI FROM THE APT AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. ALL OF THE CTLING AGENCIES AND ACR PERSONNEL WERE VERY RESPONSIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. MEDICAL PERSONNEL MET THE PAX, EVALUATED HER AND TOOK HER AWAY FOR FURTHER TREATMENT. AS MIGHT BE EXPECTED EVERYONE INVOLVED -- FROM THE FLT ATTENDANTS, PAX, ATC FACILITIES AND ACR GND PERSONNEL -- WERE TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL AND COMPETENT! THE PURSER SUBMITTED A PAX RPT IDENTING THE DISTRESSED PAX AND HELPFUL PAX (WHO BY THE WAY WAS AN ARMED GSA EMPLOYEE SEATED IN ROW XX, I BELIEVE).
