Narrative:

Just before intercepting localizer on ILS runway 30R, the #3 engine began to exceed temperature limits. As PF, I decreased the power lever to idle and the temperature leveled off still above limits at 690 degrees. The first officer and I decided to shut it down immediately. I continued the approach while first officer performed QRH and secured engine. With the engine secured and all system operational, we elected to continue approach and landing without notifying ATC. The flight landed safely without further incident.
