Narrative:
I was instructed by ATC at flying cloud to land on runway 28R. I lined up and landed on runway 28L. There was no traffic in the pattern for runway 28L, so no one had to take evasive action. The flight leading up to the runway incursion was difficult as I was attempting to follow a GPS that I was unfamiliar with. The GPS was working properly, but I was reading the information incorrectly. This got me off course and somewhat disoriented. As I approached the field, after getting back on course, I believe that ATC changed my runway from runway 28L to runway 28R and I responded but did not mentally make the change and, therefore, landed on the wrong runway. Contributing factors: initial disorientation from being off course. Change in runway assignment. Not thinking through the ATC instructions and not writing down the runway assignment. Corrective action: listen carefully and write down the runway assignment. Maintain presence of mind and composure. Human performance considerations: in my mental approach planning, I locked on to one vision of the airport and did not adjust when the runway assignment was changed. Being a relatively new pilot was also, I think, a contributing factor, although all of my flying has been done out of flying cloud.

Title: ACFT LANDED ON WRONG RWY AT FCM.
Narrative: I WAS INSTRUCTED BY ATC AT FLYING CLOUD TO LAND ON RWY 28R. I LINED UP AND LANDED ON RWY 28L. THERE WAS NO TFC IN THE PATTERN FOR RWY 28L, SO NO ONE HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. THE FLT LEADING UP TO THE RWY INCURSION WAS DIFFICULT AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO FOLLOW A GPS THAT I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH. THE GPS WAS WORKING PROPERLY, BUT I WAS READING THE INFO INCORRECTLY. THIS GOT ME OFF COURSE AND SOMEWHAT DISORIENTED. AS I APCHED THE FIELD, AFTER GETTING BACK ON COURSE, I BELIEVE THAT ATC CHANGED MY RWY FROM RWY 28L TO RWY 28R AND I RESPONDED BUT DID NOT MENTALLY MAKE THE CHANGE AND, THEREFORE, LANDED ON THE WRONG RWY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: INITIAL DISORIENTATION FROM BEING OFF COURSE. CHANGE IN RWY ASSIGNMENT. NOT THINKING THROUGH THE ATC INSTRUCTIONS AND NOT WRITING DOWN THE RWY ASSIGNMENT.
