Narrative:
Level at FL370, approximately 20 mi west of hnk VOR, we received a traffic alert through TCASII. The traffic was in our 1 O'clock position, approximately level at approximately 6 mi. The center gave us a left turn 15 degrees left, at the same time we received an RA and TCASII instruction to climb. At FL370 in an MD80, you cannot climb much higher, so we kept in a turn. We received clear of conflict approximately after 20 degrees of turn and 150 ft of altitude gain. We told center we were responding to an RA. The controller immediately gave us a frequency change and a phone number. We called the phone number upon landing and were told by ZBW that there was a center operational error by new york in the handoff.

Title: MD80 CREW AND ANOTHER ACFT HAD A TCASII RA IN ZNY CLASS A AT THE ZBW CTL BOUNDARY.
Narrative: LEVEL AT FL370, APPROX 20 MI W OF HNK VOR, WE RECEIVED A TFC ALERT THROUGH TCASII. THE TFC WAS IN OUR 1 O'CLOCK POS, APPROX LEVEL AT APPROX 6 MI. THE CTR GAVE US A L TURN 15 DEGS L, AT THE SAME TIME WE RECEIVED AN RA AND TCASII INSTRUCTION TO CLB. AT FL370 IN AN MD80, YOU CANNOT CLB MUCH HIGHER, SO WE KEPT IN A TURN. WE RECEIVED CLR OF CONFLICT APPROX AFTER 20 DEGS OF TURN AND 150 FT OF ALT GAIN. WE TOLD CTR WE WERE RESPONDING TO AN RA. THE CTLR IMMEDIATELY GAVE US A FREQ CHANGE AND A PHONE NUMBER. WE CALLED THE PHONE NUMBER UPON LNDG AND WERE TOLD BY ZBW THAT THERE WAS A CTR OPERROR BY NEW YORK IN THE HDOF.
