Narrative:
After takeoff, the gear handle could not be raised and the aircraft did not pressurize. Requested vectors for possible return. Given box pattern at 3000 ft, then 5000 ft to work the problem. Determined the air/ground sensor had probably malfunctioned. Burned fuel down to below maximum landing weight and returned to lga for normal landing.

Title: AN MD82, AFTER TKOF, THE FLT DIVERTED DUE TO UNABLE TO RAISE THE GEAR HANDLE AND FAILURE OF THE ACFT TO PRESSURIZE. GND SENSING PROB.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF, THE GEAR HANDLE COULD NOT BE RAISED AND THE ACFT DID NOT PRESSURIZE. REQUESTED VECTORS FOR POSSIBLE RETURN. GIVEN BOX PATTERN AT 3000 FT, THEN 5000 FT TO WORK THE PROB. DETERMINED THE AIR/GND SENSOR HAD PROBABLY MALFUNCTIONED. BURNED FUEL DOWN TO BELOW MAX LNDG WT AND RETURNED TO LGA FOR NORMAL LNDG.
