Narrative:
Upon departure from runway 19 teb, experienced electrical system failure shortly after landing gear were retracted. Clearance was to stay at or below 1000 ft, fly southeast. Once aircraft was leveled off at approximately 700 ft MSL, we communicated with the teb tower via hand-held radio and informed them we had an electrical system malfunction and needed to return to the field. 3 attempts were made to load shed and recycle the alternator. Power would come back for a few seconds then go out again. Landing gear was extended during the last cycling attempt and confirmed down and locked. We were cleared to land on runway 19. Landing was uneventful with no flaps. Tower or teb dispatched emergency crew to stand by. Aircraft was grounded by me. Maintenance at teb to troubleshoot problem.

Title: C182 PLT HAD ELECTRICAL FAILURE DEPARTING TEB. THE PLT RETURNED TO TEB FOR LNDG.
Narrative: UPON DEP FROM RWY 19 TEB, EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL SYS FAILURE SHORTLY AFTER LNDG GEAR WERE RETRACTED. CLRNC WAS TO STAY AT OR BELOW 1000 FT, FLY SE. ONCE ACFT WAS LEVELED OFF AT APPROX 700 FT MSL, WE COMMUNICATED WITH THE TEB TWR VIA HAND-HELD RADIO AND INFORMED THEM WE HAD AN ELECTRICAL SYS MALFUNCTION AND NEEDED TO RETURN TO THE FIELD. 3 ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO LOAD SHED AND RECYCLE THE ALTERNATOR. PWR WOULD COME BACK FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN GO OUT AGAIN. LNDG GEAR WAS EXTENDED DURING THE LAST CYCLING ATTEMPT AND CONFIRMED DOWN AND LOCKED. WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 19. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL WITH NO FLAPS. TWR OR TEB DISPATCHED EMER CREW TO STAND BY. ACFT WAS GNDED BY ME. MAINT AT TEB TO TROUBLESHOOT PROB.
