Narrative:
While on a visual approach and cleared to land on runway 35L at denver, at about 100 ft above the ground, we noticed a B757 taxiing across our runway near the rollout end. Tower had not mentioned him at all and this was the first we knew of him. The first officer was the PF and elected to go around which I thought was a wise decision. Tower was too busy for me to get a word in initially, but at about 400 ft, we told them we were going around due to the crossing traffic. Tower gave us an easterly heading and a climb to, I think, 9000 ft and apologized for the traffic and told us to expect a visual to runway 35R. At about 1000 ft AGL on the climb, I noticed and pointed out to the first officer the #1 engine egt at 960 degrees C. The first officer immediately reduced thrust to within limits. Neither of us noted any other engine parameters. I had only observed the high egt for about 1 second but the first officer estimated for maintenance control that it was on for 7 seconds. We made a routine landing on runway 35R and, upon arrival at gate, called maintenance control and made the appropriate logbook entry.

Title: B737-300 FLT CREW EXECUTED A GAR AT 100 FT, ON FINAL TO DEN'S RWY 35L, WHEN AN ACFT TAXIED ACROSS THEIR RWY.
Narrative: WHILE ON A VISUAL APCH AND CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 35L AT DENVER, AT ABOUT 100 FT ABOVE THE GND, WE NOTICED A B757 TAXIING ACROSS OUR RWY NEAR THE ROLLOUT END. TWR HAD NOT MENTIONED HIM AT ALL AND THIS WAS THE FIRST WE KNEW OF HIM. THE FO WAS THE PF AND ELECTED TO GO AROUND WHICH I THOUGHT WAS A WISE DECISION. TWR WAS TOO BUSY FOR ME TO GET A WORD IN INITIALLY, BUT AT ABOUT 400 FT, WE TOLD THEM WE WERE GOING AROUND DUE TO THE XING TFC. TWR GAVE US AN EASTERLY HDG AND A CLB TO, I THINK, 9000 FT AND APOLOGIZED FOR THE TFC AND TOLD US TO EXPECT A VISUAL TO RWY 35R. AT ABOUT 1000 FT AGL ON THE CLB, I NOTICED AND POINTED OUT TO THE FO THE #1 ENG EGT AT 960 DEGS C. THE FO IMMEDIATELY REDUCED THRUST TO WITHIN LIMITS. NEITHER OF US NOTED ANY OTHER ENG PARAMETERS. I HAD ONLY OBSERVED THE HIGH EGT FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND BUT THE FO ESTIMATED FOR MAINT CTL THAT IT WAS ON FOR 7 SECONDS. WE MADE A ROUTINE LNDG ON RWY 35R AND, UPON ARR AT GATE, CALLED MAINT CTL AND MADE THE APPROPRIATE LOGBOOK ENTRY.
