Narrative:
During the approach into mfe, upon landing gear extension, crew noted unsafe right main gear. Executed go around, first officer referred to QRH and performed checklist procedure for unsafe landing gear indication. Checklist completed, gear indicated 3 down and locked. Uneventful landing performed. The tower advised to fly down the runway and they would check the gear. The red gear light was on and the warning horn sounded when the throttle was retarded. I was 99% sure the gear was not down, but wanted another opinion. The tower advised the gear was no down. The missed approach is climb to 1500 ft and turn left to 2000 ft and direct to missi. During the turn, I advised to flight attendant to prepare for a possible emergency landing. We completed the manual gear extension and the gear indicated down and locked, the horn did not sound. We advised the tower we wanted to return. We made a normal landing. 2 hours later we flew the aircraft back to houston with gear down and no pins.
