Narrative:

Over mcb at FL370, was told by ATC to make a 'hard' right turn to heading of 190 degrees (from heading of 100 degrees). 1/2 way through the turn, TCASII reacted with a TA on air carrier Y no more than 3 to 4 mi away. When I heard 'hard right,' I turned off the autoplt to increase the rate of turn. When the TA triggered, I manually climbed the aircraft to FL372. When the conflicting aircraft was visually idented and determination was made that no conflict existed, I descended back to FL370 and turned the autoplt back on. Shortly after, we were given on course by ATC.

Narrative: OVER MCB AT FL370, WAS TOLD BY ATC TO MAKE A 'HARD' R TURN TO HDG OF 190 DEGS (FROM HDG OF 100 DEGS). 1/2 WAY THROUGH THE TURN, TCASII REACTED WITH A TA ON ACR Y NO MORE THAN 3 TO 4 MI AWAY. WHEN I HEARD 'HARD R,' I TURNED OFF THE AUTOPLT TO INCREASE THE RATE OF TURN. WHEN THE TA TRIGGERED, I MANUALLY CLBED THE ACFT TO FL372. WHEN THE CONFLICTING ACFT WAS VISUALLY IDENTED AND DETERMINATION WAS MADE THAT NO CONFLICT EXISTED, I DSNDED BACK TO FL370 AND TURNED THE AUTOPLT BACK ON. SHORTLY AFTER, WE WERE GIVEN ON COURSE BY ATC.
