Narrative:
It appears some crews are not aware of the restr listed in operations manual volume 1 system section on not starting or stopping the APU during refueling operations. This is per boeing and may result in an explosion. Recommend it be placed in the limitations section. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the mention of the restr is included in the basic boeing manual. It appears in the company manual in the section that covers system backgnd and descriptions and is covered at least once in initial training. When approached with this issue, company management recognized the importance of the issue. They are presently working with their safety and training departments to make changes to raise the awareness of the limitation.
