Narrative:
While climbing through FL280, left engine oil pressure displayed warning (low pressure). Leveled out, performed emergency memory items and checklists. When engine power was reduced warnings extinguished. Any attempt to increase power led to return of message. In conjunction with dispatch and maintenance, selected ZZZ as a diversion airport. Left engine remained at idle under observation. Briefed passenger and flight attendant. Declared emergency as precaution and diverted to ZZZ. Normal descent, approach and landing. Taxied to gate under own power without further incident.
