Narrative:
During the course of the latest Q5 check of aircraft X, I was assigned routine paperwork to install aircraft loose equipment. At some time during the shift, fellow mechanic (mr X) was assigned to work with me. We both worked off of the same job card and worked on different sections of the job card simultaneously. While in the process of accomplishing my work, I witnessed mr X changing the batteries in the megaphones. At the end of the shift, I conferred with mr X about the status of the megaphones. I received a positive response and proceeded to stamp the block. I was informed on dec/wed/04 that a ramp inspection of aforementioned aircraft occurred on nov/wed/04. During the inspection, the forward and aft emergency equipment megaphone placards were found to be out-of-date. Per the incident detail in the FAA letter of concern, the last battery change notated on the megaphone placard was sep/03, approximately 50 days overdue.
