Narrative:

During takeoff roll on runway 31L at ZZZ, the warning siren sounded along with red stabilizer EICAS message. Initiated abort at about 125 KTS. Automatic brakes were turned off at about 100 KTS as there was sufficient runway remaining to stop using reversers and normal braking. Aircraft was stopped on the runway, ZZZ tower notified, PA's made, and the fire equipment called as a precaution. After stopping, we noted that the stabilizer trim had moved from 4.2 to about 7.5 uncommanded, triggering the takeoff warning siren. The trim setting was left at 7.5 for maintenance. The fire equipment arrived at the aircraft immediately, but it took about eight mins before we could communication directly with them on the assigned frequency of 121.65. This concerned me as I needed to know the condition of the landing gear, and whether an evacuation might be needed. After finally talking to the fire and rescue, they told me that all of the landing gear appeared intact and there was no sign of smoke or other problems. Shortly thereafter, air carrier maintenance arrived to check the aircraft. They told me that all of the landing gear was ok and the brakes, wheels and tires were cool. They also said that it would be ok to taxi to the gate. As a precaution I requested a tow back to gate, where all the passenger were accommodated on the next flight. Maximum speed about 130 KTS. V1 144 KTS. Takeoff weight 223000 pounds. Time stopped on the runway about 35 mins. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: captain stated the decision to abort at 125 KTS was made and sufficient runway was available. Maintenance downloaded the flight data recorder and replaced a stabilizer position indicator. During the eight mins of no communication with the crf crew they could communication with the tower who may have alerted the crf crew they needed to talk.

Title: A B757-200 ABORTED TKOF AT 125 KTS DUE TO EICAS WARNING MESSAGE. AFTER STOPPING, CREW NOTED STABILIZER TRIM MOVED FROM 4.2 TO 7.5 UNITS UNCOMMANDED.

Narrative: DURING TKOF ROLL ON RWY 31L AT ZZZ, THE WARNING SIREN SOUNDED ALONG WITH RED STABILIZER EICAS MESSAGE. INITIATED ABORT AT ABOUT 125 KTS. AUTO BRAKES WERE TURNED OFF AT ABOUT 100 KTS AS THERE WAS SUFFICIENT RWY REMAINING TO STOP USING REVERSERS AND NORMAL BRAKING. ACFT WAS STOPPED ON THE RWY, ZZZ TWR NOTIFIED, PA'S MADE, AND THE FIRE EQUIP CALLED AS A PRECAUTION. AFTER STOPPING, WE NOTED THAT THE STABILIZER TRIM HAD MOVED FROM 4.2 TO ABOUT 7.5 UNCOMMANDED, TRIGGERING THE TKOF WARNING SIREN. THE TRIM SETTING WAS LEFT AT 7.5 FOR MAINT. THE FIRE EQUIP ARRIVED AT THE ACFT IMMEDIATELY, BUT IT TOOK ABOUT EIGHT MINS BEFORE WE COULD COM DIRECTLY WITH THEM ON THE ASSIGNED FREQ OF 121.65. THIS CONCERNED ME AS I NEEDED TO KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE LNDG GEAR, AND WHETHER AN EVACUATION MIGHT BE NEEDED. AFTER FINALLY TALKING TO THE FIRE AND RESCUE, THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL OF THE LNDG GEAR APPEARED INTACT AND THERE WAS NO SIGN OF SMOKE OR OTHER PROBS. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, ACR MAINT ARRIVED TO CHECK THE ACFT. THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL OF THE LNDG GEAR WAS OK AND THE BRAKES, WHEELS AND TIRES WERE COOL. THEY ALSO SAID THAT IT WOULD BE OK TO TAXI TO THE GATE. AS A PRECAUTION I REQUESTED A TOW BACK TO GATE, WHERE ALL THE PAX WERE ACCOMMODATED ON THE NEXT FLT. MAX SPEED ABOUT 130 KTS. V1 144 KTS. TKOF WEIGHT 223000 LBS. TIME STOPPED ON THE RWY ABOUT 35 MINS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CAPT STATED THE DECISION TO ABORT AT 125 KTS WAS MADE AND SUFFICIENT RWY WAS AVAILABLE. MAINT DOWNLOADED THE FLT DATA RECORDER AND REPLACED A STABILIZER POSITION INDICATOR. DURING THE EIGHT MINS OF NO COM WITH THE CRF CREW THEY COULD COM WITH THE TWR WHO MAY HAVE ALERTED THE CRF CREW THEY NEEDED TO TALK.
