Narrative:
Aborted takeoff due to smoke in the cockpit. Aircraft came from maintenance hangar for first flight of the day. We accepted aircraft and proceeded with a normal operations preparation and departure. During takeoff, we experienced a cockpit slowly filling with smoke. I aborted the takeoff at approximately 100 KTS and the tower was notified. We exited the runway, at which time we received a report from the cabin that they were experiencing the cabin filling with smoke. We notified the tower that we were requesting crash fire rescue equipment support and then began running our appropriate checklists. The smoke continued to dissipate in both the cabin and cockpit. Once satisfied as to the safety of aircraft, crew and passenger, I requested crash fire rescue equipment to escort us back to the gate where aircraft was taken OTS.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B737-800 CREW HAD SMOKE ENTER THE COCKPIT AND THE CABIN. THE CREW REJECTED THE TKOF AT ABOUT 100 KTS.
Narrative: ABORTED TKOF DUE TO SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. ACFT CAME FROM MAINT HANGAR FOR FIRST FLT OF THE DAY. WE ACCEPTED ACFT AND PROCEEDED WITH A NORMAL OPS PREPARATION AND DEP. DURING TKOF, WE EXPERIENCED A COCKPIT SLOWLY FILLING WITH SMOKE. I ABORTED THE TKOF AT APPROX 100 KTS AND THE TWR WAS NOTIFIED. WE EXITED THE RWY, AT WHICH TIME WE RECEIVED A RPT FROM THE CABIN THAT THEY WERE EXPERIENCING THE CABIN FILLING WITH SMOKE. WE NOTIFIED THE TWR THAT WE WERE REQUESTING CFR SUPPORT AND THEN BEGAN RUNNING OUR APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS. THE SMOKE CONTINUED TO DISSIPATE IN BOTH THE CABIN AND COCKPIT. ONCE SATISFIED AS TO THE SAFETY OF ACFT, CREW AND PAX, I REQUESTED CFR TO ESCORT US BACK TO THE GATE WHERE ACFT WAS TAKEN OTS.
