Narrative:
South of city of cleveland on west vector to cle at 10000 ft and 310 KTS in night VFR conditions. I noticed light flash in cockpit along with exclamation from first officer. He reported a strong green laser from out 4 O'clock position following aircraft and occasionally hitting it and cockpit. He was at first worried about eye damamge. He noticed about where it came from on the ground then avoided looking out to avoid eye damage. A minute later he looked and said it was gone. We reported to ATC who gave us a number to call on ground. First officer suffered no problems. After landing, first officer talked to ATC, I talked to flight operations director, and we were interviewed by representatives of the fbi and tsa. I filed a captainsouth irregularity report.
