Narrative:

Flying my aircraft with another pilot doing touch-and-goes. On downwind runway 32 abeam numbers; pulled power for simulated engine out. PF did not complete turn to runway heading in time. Crossed runway and landed in grass alongside. No damage to aircraft or airport property. After pulling onto ramp to check for damage; we taxied out to runway to check runway lights for damage. Tracks showed nothing hit. Factors: PF was an instructor with substantially more experience than I. He did not have nearly as much time in type. I expected him to make the go around decision and he did not. This was definitely a CRM issue. It was clear who was flying; but the decision to go around was not made in time.
