Narrative:
We were just turning onto taxiway eh at the approach end of runway 17R at dfw and switching our radio to tower frequency. I noticed an air carrier Y aircraft just about to touch down on runway 17R; which is unusual. He landed very firmly at about 600-700 ft down the runway. At the same moment I heard 'wow! That was close!' I turned to look to my left and saw a company air carrier Z aircraft that was well beyond the hold short line and about to take the runway at taxiway ef. He had not yet crossed the runway sideline marking. There seemed to be some confusion on the frequency and a question about takeoff. The controller then said 'no! Cancel takeoff clearance.' there was a pregnant silence on the frequency for a bit and then the controller asked air carrier Z if they were ready to copy the phone number; which they did. She then said; 'he even acknowledged cleared to land on the center....' the flts involved were air carrier Y and air carrier Z.

THERE WAS A PREGNANT SILENCE ON THE FREQ FOR A BIT AND THEN THE CTLR ASKED ACR Z IF THEY WERE READY TO COPY THE PHONE NUMBER; WHICH THEY DID.
