Narrative:

Before takeoff we received the following final weight -- zero fuel weight 274071 pounds; takeoff gross weight 317571 pounds; mac 19.1; trim 4.8; passenger 244; crew 3/10. After takeoff; we received a message from load planning that we were overweight and to have the flight attendant do a kids count. We were trying to resolve the weight problem. After questioning the message; we were advised that we were 883 pounds above the zero fuel weight. After sending the kids count; we received a new weight -- zero fuel weight 276783 pounds; takeoff gross weight 320283 pounds; mac 14.4; trim 5.7. The reason given to me for that problem -- ramp added a pallet to the staging post departure. As for that I was not overweight for takeoff; my final weight was within limits.
