Narrative:
During takeoff from runway 17R at the 80 KT callout; captain's airspeed read zero. Abort initiated and aircraft taxied back to gate. Maintenance found insect body parts and debris in captain's pitot tube. Pitot system was purged and flight departed uneventfully.

Title: AN MD80 ABORTED TKOF AT 80 KTS DUE TO CAPT'S AIRSPD INDICATOR READ ZERO. FOUND DEBRIS IN PITOT TUBE.
Narrative: DURING TKOF FROM RWY 17R AT THE 80 KT CALLOUT; CAPT'S AIRSPD READ ZERO. ABORT INITIATED AND ACFT TAXIED BACK TO GATE. MAINT FOUND INSECT BODY PARTS AND DEBRIS IN CAPT'S PITOT TUBE. PITOT SYS WAS PURGED AND FLT DEPARTED UNEVENTFULLY.
