Narrative:
We were cleared for takeoff and just starting a rolling takeoff; when we noticed an electric flicker and status message. The status message said 'main battery charger.' we rejected the takeoff at less than 20 KTS on runway 8R. We taxied clear and the status message disappeared. We were reclred for takeoff and as I pushed the throttles forward we lost our dc power. Another low speed abort at less than 20 KTS was accomplished on runway 8R. This time we had a status message that said 'main battery charger.' we also had a popped circuit breaker for hot battery bus. We lost many electrical components which were dc power related. We taxied back to a gate and turned the aircraft over to maintenance. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated both rejected takeoffs were low speed 20 KTS or less. Maintenance has made no contact with either crew member on the maintenance action taken. On return to the gate; another aircraft was assigned to the trip and reporter left without talking with maintenance.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B757-200 REJECTED TKOF AT LESS THAN 20 KTS DUE TO EICAS MESSAGE 'MAIN BATTERY CHARGER.' MESSAGE CLRED. AGAIN; REJECTED TKOF AT LESS THAN 20 KTS WHEN PWR APPLIED LOST ALL DC PWR.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AND JUST STARTING A ROLLING TKOF; WHEN WE NOTICED AN ELECTRIC FLICKER AND STATUS MESSAGE. THE STATUS MESSAGE SAID 'MAIN BATTERY CHARGER.' WE REJECTED THE TKOF AT LESS THAN 20 KTS ON RWY 8R. WE TAXIED CLR AND THE STATUS MESSAGE DISAPPEARED. WE WERE RECLRED FOR TKOF AND AS I PUSHED THE THROTTLES FORWARD WE LOST OUR DC PWR. ANOTHER LOW SPD ABORT AT LESS THAN 20 KTS WAS ACCOMPLISHED ON RWY 8R. THIS TIME WE HAD A STATUS MESSAGE THAT SAID 'MAIN BATTERY CHARGER.' WE ALSO HAD A POPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR HOT BATTERY BUS. WE LOST MANY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WHICH WERE DC PWR RELATED. WE TAXIED BACK TO A GATE AND TURNED THE ACFT OVER TO MAINT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED BOTH REJECTED TKOFS WERE LOW SPD 20 KTS OR LESS. MAINT HAS MADE NO CONTACT WITH EITHER CREW MEMBER ON THE MAINT ACTION TAKEN. ON RETURN TO THE GATE; ANOTHER ACFT WAS ASSIGNED TO THE TRIP AND RPTR LEFT WITHOUT TALKING WITH MAINT.
