Narrative:
On aug/fri/05 during the rigging of the rudder control system on aircraft Y was discovered that incorrect data was used to tension the body cables on aircraft X when the aircraft was in check in july. Supervision was immediately notified and the supervisors; through maintenance control; located the aircraft and had the cable tension checked and reset. Failed to use the correct manual when checking for cable size. This mistake led us to the wrong cable tensioning data. I suspect that the rigging job took place on the first day back from vacation and my attention was not what it should have been.

Title: A B737-500 WAS RELEASED FROM A HVY MAINT CHK WITH RUDDER CTL CABLE TENSION RIGGED INCORRECTLY. WRONG REF USED FOR TENSIOMETER SETTING.
Narrative: ON AUG/FRI/05 DURING THE RIGGING OF THE RUDDER CTL SYS ON ACFT Y WAS DISCOVERED THAT INCORRECT DATA WAS USED TO TENSION THE BODY CABLES ON ACFT X WHEN THE ACFT WAS IN CHK IN JULY. SUPERVISION WAS IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED AND THE SUPVRS; THROUGH MAINT CTL; LOCATED THE ACFT AND HAD THE CABLE TENSION CHKED AND RESET. FAILED TO USE THE CORRECT MANUAL WHEN CHKING FOR CABLE SIZE. THIS MISTAKE LED US TO THE WRONG CABLE TENSIONING DATA. I SUSPECT THAT THE RIGGING JOB TOOK PLACE ON THE FIRST DAY BACK FROM VACATION AND MY ATTN WAS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
