Narrative:
On feb/xa/05; I discovered delamination on nose landing gear door (forward) on B757-200 during overnight maintenance. During my evaluation of the srm allowable damage limits; apparently I misinterped or overlooked the 0.50 maximum diameter in honeycomb area in favor of the 25% of core length per side and thought the damage was acceptable per 52-89-02. The damage was near center of door 3 inch by 4 inch area in non critical area; on exterior of door. Aft part of door separated from aircraft on aug/thu/05 doing minor damage to wing to body fairing. Aircraft OTS until door was replaced. I was notified of the incident on sep/tue/05. Contributing factors: probably fatigue and frequency of usage of srm manuals.

Title: A B757-200 IN MAINT CHK HAD THE R NOSE LNDG GEAR DOOR HONEYCOMB DELAMINATION EVALUATED INCORRECTLY. AFT PART OF DOOR SEPARATED IN FLT.
Narrative: ON FEB/XA/05; I DISCOVERED DELAMINATION ON NOSE LNDG GEAR DOOR (FORWARD) ON B757-200 DURING OVERNIGHT MAINT. DURING MY EVALUATION OF THE SRM ALLOWABLE DAMAGE LIMITS; APPARENTLY I MISINTERPED OR OVERLOOKED THE 0.50 MAX DIAMETER IN HONEYCOMB AREA IN FAVOR OF THE 25% OF CORE LENGTH PER SIDE AND THOUGHT THE DAMAGE WAS ACCEPTABLE PER 52-89-02. THE DAMAGE WAS NEAR CTR OF DOOR 3 INCH BY 4 INCH AREA IN NON CRITICAL AREA; ON EXTERIOR OF DOOR. AFT PART OF DOOR SEPARATED FROM ACFT ON AUG/THU/05 DOING MINOR DAMAGE TO WING TO BODY FAIRING. ACFT OTS UNTIL DOOR WAS REPLACED. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT ON SEP/TUE/05. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: PROBABLY FATIGUE AND FREQUENCY OF USAGE OF SRM MANUALS.
