Narrative:
Mechanics strike; new maintenance staff; breakdown of our normal procedures to track and match aircraft MEL's with dispatch release due to mistake in aircraft logbook. A seat (9D) was MEL'ed inoperative; but due to all of the above; and my and my crew's own honest mistake; we operated this aircraft most of the day before I caught and corrected the error with our dispatch and maintenance control.
