Narrative:
The captain gave a highly abbreviated briefing; which did not include the departure procedure. I requested that he brief the teb 5 departure off of runway 1 and he did so correctly. Climbing through 1000 ft on our way up to the specified altitude of 2000 ft; I called; 1000 ft for 2000 ft.' at 1500 ft; I called '1500 ft' as a cue for the captain to begin the turn from 040 degrees towards the pnj NDB and heighten his altitude awareness. He began the left turn but did not substantially reduce the climb rate. I then called; '1700 ft;' at which point he appeared surprised and began to initiate a leveloff. At the required altitude of 2000 ft; I called; '2000 ft; 2000 ft.' the captain pitched the aircraft nose downward and we reached a maximum altitude of approximately 2150 ft before leveling off at 2000 ft. The departure controller subsequently issued a climb to 6000 ft and handed us off the next controller. He made no mention of the excursion; and I am not aware of any conflict.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CL60 FLT CREW HAS MODEST OVERSHOOT OF 2000 FT MSL CLB RESTR ON TEB 5 DEP.
Narrative: THE CAPT GAVE A HIGHLY ABBREVIATED BRIEFING; WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE THE DEP PROC. I REQUESTED THAT HE BRIEF THE TEB 5 DEP OFF OF RWY 1 AND HE DID SO CORRECTLY. CLBING THROUGH 1000 FT ON OUR WAY UP TO THE SPECIFIED ALT OF 2000 FT; I CALLED; 1000 FT FOR 2000 FT.' AT 1500 FT; I CALLED '1500 FT' AS A CUE FOR THE CAPT TO BEGIN THE TURN FROM 040 DEGS TOWARDS THE PNJ NDB AND HEIGHTEN HIS ALT AWARENESS. HE BEGAN THE L TURN BUT DID NOT SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE THE CLB RATE. I THEN CALLED; '1700 FT;' AT WHICH POINT HE APPEARED SURPRISED AND BEGAN TO INITIATE A LEVELOFF. AT THE REQUIRED ALT OF 2000 FT; I CALLED; '2000 FT; 2000 FT.' THE CAPT PITCHED THE ACFT NOSE DOWNWARD AND WE REACHED A MAX ALT OF APPROX 2150 FT BEFORE LEVELING OFF AT 2000 FT. THE DEP CTLR SUBSEQUENTLY ISSUED A CLB TO 6000 FT AND HANDED US OFF THE NEXT CTLR. HE MADE NO MENTION OF THE EXCURSION; AND I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY CONFLICT.
