Narrative:
Tower cleared position and hold on runway 9R. During turn onto runway 9R; heard noise come from nose gear area. I thought it was a pothole or bump on the runway. I felt no other vibration or abnormal indications. During takeoff roll; aircraft behind us on taxiway advised tower that one of our nose gear tires was on the runway. Tower advised us and captain initiated abort. Speed approximately 60 KTS; I had not yet made 80 KT call. Upon stopping aircraft; we evaluated; kept passenger on board; and they deplaned via bus. No abnormal feel during the takeoff roll; the callout by the other aircraft and tower were how we discovered problem. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the wheel and tire were recovered and it was discovered the axle had failed on the inboard side of the wheel and tire.
