Narrative:
While in cruise wbound on J45; the left engine failed. We declared an emergency; diverted to ZZZ and landed safely. After landing; no damage was noted on engine; nacelle or aircraft. Later examination found metal in the oil and the N2 generator shaft is suspected to have failed.

Title: B757 FLT CREW EXPERIENCES ENG FAILURE AT CRUISE. DECLARE EMER AND DIVERT TO THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT.
Narrative: WHILE IN CRUISE WBOUND ON J45; THE L ENG FAILED. WE DECLARED AN EMER; DIVERTED TO ZZZ AND LANDED SAFELY. AFTER LNDG; NO DAMAGE WAS NOTED ON ENG; NACELLE OR ACFT. LATER EXAM FOUND METAL IN THE OIL AND THE N2 GENERATOR SHAFT IS SUSPECTED TO HAVE FAILED.
