Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff from dfw; ZFW called and advised that we were north of course and cleared us direct to ortro intersection on the NOBLY2 RNAV departure. The captain was PF and had the radar on due to potential WX ahead on our projected course. We had passed nobly intersection and the aircraft had been navigation tracking direct to lit instead of tracking to cobug; as our clearance specified. As we discussed the situation; we noticed that the two waypoints published on the SID past nobly (cobug and ortro) were not on the legs page. On preflight I had loaded the FMS at the gate and both captain and first officer checked the legs page prior to gate departure as per SOP. There were numerous distractions at that time as we had a revision to our edct time that allowed us to depart earlier than planned. It is possible that the lit transition was not selected on the departure/arrival page; but there was no route discontinuity and the legs page was checked by both pilots.supplemental information from acn 687997: I also had the range of the navigation display in close to monitor track deviation and WX at the time. It would have been prudent to have had the navigation range far enough out to have seen the next fix. This may have helped me to notice the missing data points sooner.

Title: MD80 FLT CREW EXPERIENCES TRACK DEV ON NOBLY RNAV SID FROM DFW. SUSPECT THAT THE TRANSITION PORTION WAS NOT PROGRAMMED PRIOR TO DEP.

Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER TKOF FROM DFW; ZFW CALLED AND ADVISED THAT WE WERE N OF COURSE AND CLRED US DIRECT TO ORTRO INTXN ON THE NOBLY2 RNAV DEP. THE CAPT WAS PF AND HAD THE RADAR ON DUE TO POTENTIAL WX AHEAD ON OUR PROJECTED COURSE. WE HAD PASSED NOBLY INTXN AND THE ACFT HAD BEEN NAV TRACKING DIRECT TO LIT INSTEAD OF TRACKING TO COBUG; AS OUR CLRNC SPECIFIED. AS WE DISCUSSED THE SITUATION; WE NOTICED THAT THE TWO WAYPOINTS PUBLISHED ON THE SID PAST NOBLY (COBUG AND ORTRO) WERE NOT ON THE LEGS PAGE. ON PREFLT I HAD LOADED THE FMS AT THE GATE AND BOTH CAPT AND FO CHKED THE LEGS PAGE PRIOR TO GATE DEP AS PER SOP. THERE WERE NUMEROUS DISTRACTIONS AT THAT TIME AS WE HAD A REVISION TO OUR EDCT TIME THAT ALLOWED US TO DEPART EARLIER THAN PLANNED. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE LIT TRANSITION WAS NOT SELECTED ON THE DEP/ARR PAGE; BUT THERE WAS NO RTE DISCONTINUITY AND THE LEGS PAGE WAS CHKED BY BOTH PLTS.SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 687997: I ALSO HAD THE RANGE OF THE NAV DISPLAY IN CLOSE TO MONITOR TRACK DEV AND WX AT THE TIME. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRUDENT TO HAVE HAD THE NAV RANGE FAR ENOUGH OUT TO HAVE SEEN THE NEXT FIX. THIS MAY HAVE HELPED ME TO NOTICE THE MISSING DATA POINTS SOONER.
