Narrative:
Captain advised us in prebriefing before boarding to remain seated until he called. He called and advised us we could resume our duties. It was a little bumpy so I remained seated until I felt I could get up safely. I was the #2. I got up and went into the aft galley to prepare for our beverage service. I guess I was there about 5 mins when we hit severe turbulence. I could not walk -- could not move. I tried to grab things in the galley but with no success. I fell to the floor and asked the passenger at seats 28D and 29D to grab me and hold me down. They did so! I felt like I compressed my whole body to prevent me from going to the ceiling. I remained on the floor for a few mins to make sure it was ok to get up and to make sure I was not hurt. I felt ok at the time. We did our beverage service with continued off and on turbulence. I started hurting during the service; lower back; shoulder; neck; head; left knee and right hand. The #4 called the cockpit to ask was there more turbulence before we did our service. Someone said there was nothing on the radar. She advised them we were on our knees. I advised the captain what happened and I needed to write a report. I told him I got hurt. I informed him he needed to report it also. When turbulence hit; I was tossed around from one side of the galley to the other trying to grab something.

Title: MD80 CABIN CREW IS INJURED DURING TURB PENETRATION.
Narrative: CAPT ADVISED US IN PREBRIEFING BEFORE BOARDING TO REMAIN SEATED UNTIL HE CALLED. HE CALLED AND ADVISED US WE COULD RESUME OUR DUTIES. IT WAS A LITTLE BUMPY SO I REMAINED SEATED UNTIL I FELT I COULD GET UP SAFELY. I WAS THE #2. I GOT UP AND WENT INTO THE AFT GALLEY TO PREPARE FOR OUR BEVERAGE SVC. I GUESS I WAS THERE ABOUT 5 MINS WHEN WE HIT SEVERE TURB. I COULD NOT WALK -- COULD NOT MOVE. I TRIED TO GRAB THINGS IN THE GALLEY BUT WITH NO SUCCESS. I FELL TO THE FLOOR AND ASKED THE PAX AT SEATS 28D AND 29D TO GRAB ME AND HOLD ME DOWN. THEY DID SO! I FELT LIKE I COMPRESSED MY WHOLE BODY TO PREVENT ME FROM GOING TO THE CEILING. I REMAINED ON THE FLOOR FOR A FEW MINS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS OK TO GET UP AND TO MAKE SURE I WAS NOT HURT. I FELT OK AT THE TIME. WE DID OUR BEVERAGE SVC WITH CONTINUED OFF AND ON TURB.
