Narrative:
Flight departed on time and flew the normal route to mia. Flight flown at FL410 initially and then FL400 for the remainder of flight. Flight plan was for arrival fuel of 4.6; which complies with current fuel savings directives. During cruise all chkpoints were crossed at normal fuel. At mia we flew to right downwind to final for runway 8L with a 15 mi final. During approach both tanks illuminated low fuel with less than 4000 pounds. Since we were on final in VFR conditions I elected not to run the abnormal procedure and landed with the xfeed closed per the normal limitations as opposed to the abnormal procedure which calls for the xfeed open. Approach and lng were normal. Arrived at gate with 3400 pounds of fuel. Dispatch debriefed at the gate.

SINCE WE WERE ON FINAL IN VFR CONDITIONS I ELECTED NOT TO RUN THE ABNORMAL PROC AND LANDED WITH THE XFEED CLOSED PER THE NORMAL LIMITATIONS AS OPPOSED TO THE ABNORMAL PROC WHICH CALLS FOR THE XFEED OPEN. APCH AND LNG WERE NORMAL. ARRIVED AT GATE WITH 3400 LBS OF FUEL. DISPATCH DEBRIEFED AT THE GATE.
