Narrative:
We were cruising along at FL240 when we got sas advanced message on EICAS. I xferred the flight controls to check my cfm. I found the procedure and factored the landing distance. When I took the controls back from my first officer; a second message on the EICAS popped up. It was a flaps fail message. I xferred the flight controls; checked my cfm and followed the procedures. We called our dispatch; asked them what they wanted us to do. We were 40 mi west of tri and 30 mi from L02 NAVAID. We had 3200 pounds of fuel on board. Dispatch told us to go to lex; that was our destination. When we reached L02 NAVAID; we were talking to ZID. I declared an emergency and told them we needed the trucks standing by. We landed safely in lexington; ky. The brake temperatures did not get into the yellow. The trucks followed us in and everybody was safe.
