Narrative:
On mar/thu/06 I received a write-up for air carrier X to remove captain's sidewall panel. To remove the panel requires the steering tiller to be removed. I mistakenly did not generate a documentation for the removal of the steering tiller. I returned to work friday morning. I visually verified panel was installed and I signed the write-up item. I have reviewed the procedure for the removal/installation of the steering tiller of the B757 in the maintenance manual. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the sidewall panel was removed to allow avionics technicians access to pitot lines. The nose steering tiller had to be removed to remove the sidewall panel and a non routine card was written on the sidewall panel removal. The error was in not writing a non routine card on the tiller removal and the required test of the nose steering after reinstalling the tiller.

I HAVE REVIEWED THE PROC FOR THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE STEERING TILLER OF THE B757 IN THE MAINT MANUAL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE SIDEWALL PANEL WAS REMOVED TO ALLOW AVIONICS TECHNICIANS ACCESS TO PITOT LINES. THE NOSE STEERING TILLER HAD TO BE REMOVED TO REMOVE THE SIDEWALL PANEL AND A NON ROUTINE CARD WAS WRITTEN ON THE SIDEWALL PANEL REMOVAL.
