Narrative:

After engine shutdown and checklist; I entered the cabin to say goodbye to the passenger. I noticed the 'a' flight attendant was upset. Asked what the problem was. He advised me that the slide at door 1L was dislodged. I asked the first officer to call maintenance to get them to the airplane as soon as possible. By this time about 1/2 of the airplane was deplaned. Maintenance showed up right away. I asked about the safety of deplaning the rest of the passenger. The mechanic said it would be alright. When all the passenger were off; the mechanics replaced the slide. In hindsight; it would have been a wiser course of action to halt the deplaning of the passenger once I became aware of the situation and not let anyone near the door until maintenance had a chance to look at the slide.
