Narrative:
Taxi out fll. Course given clearance delivery 086 degrees. Usually controller (local) has you depart runway 9L heading 060 degrees to 1500 ft or 2000 ft until 10 NM. Ground gave me runway 9R. Local (tower) controller (voice known for short fuse and error prone) cleared me for takeoff with 270 degree turn to overhead airport at 2000 ft northbound. No mention of other traffic. Upon leveloff there was another aircraft (aztec?) about 500 ft same direction; same altitude at about 1:30 O'clock position. The tower was very busy. The other initial aircraft was given a 060 degree heading and then I was told about him. I replied I had him in sight and was then also given 060 degrees. I stayed to his left rear. At the shoreline I was given cleared on course frequency change approved. Looking back; I should have been suspicious of this controller's instructions. I acknowledged; turned to 086 degrees (my course) and started my climb. Moments later; I saw a boeing jet taking evasive action in a left turn towards me. Separation was less than 500 ft. ATC usually holds us down longer to allow large traffic taking off runway 9L to turn left. Flight was normal after that. My cruising altitude was 9500 ft to marsh harbor (myam/mhh). I should have questioned the early release as this controller has a record as we know from flying locally. He is known for his short fuse and blaming others.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: C402 DEP FROM FLL HAS CONFLICT WITH 2 OTHER ACFT BECAUSE OF CTLR'S ACTION OR LACK THEREOF.
Narrative: TAXI OUT FLL. COURSE GIVEN CLRNC DELIVERY 086 DEGS. USUALLY CTLR (LCL) HAS YOU DEPART RWY 9L HDG 060 DEGS TO 1500 FT OR 2000 FT UNTIL 10 NM. GND GAVE ME RWY 9R. LCL (TWR) CTLR (VOICE KNOWN FOR SHORT FUSE AND ERROR PRONE) CLRED ME FOR TKOF WITH 270 DEG TURN TO OVERHEAD ARPT AT 2000 FT NBOUND. NO MENTION OF OTHER TFC. UPON LEVELOFF THERE WAS ANOTHER ACFT (AZTEC?) ABOUT 500 FT SAME DIRECTION; SAME ALT AT ABOUT 1:30 O'CLOCK POS. THE TWR WAS VERY BUSY. THE OTHER INITIAL ACFT WAS GIVEN A 060 DEG HDG AND THEN I WAS TOLD ABOUT HIM. I REPLIED I HAD HIM IN SIGHT AND WAS THEN ALSO GIVEN 060 DEGS. I STAYED TO HIS L REAR. AT THE SHORELINE I WAS GIVEN CLRED ON COURSE FREQ CHANGE APPROVED. LOOKING BACK; I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUSPICIOUS OF THIS CTLR'S INSTRUCTIONS. I ACKNOWLEDGED; TURNED TO 086 DEGS (MY COURSE) AND STARTED MY CLB. MOMENTS LATER; I SAW A BOEING JET TAKING EVASIVE ACTION IN A L TURN TOWARDS ME. SEPARATION WAS LESS THAN 500 FT. ATC USUALLY HOLDS US DOWN LONGER TO ALLOW LARGE TFC TAKING OFF RWY 9L TO TURN L. FLT WAS NORMAL AFTER THAT. MY CRUISING ALT WAS 9500 FT TO MARSH HARBOR (MYAM/MHH). I SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THE EARLY RELEASE AS THIS CTLR HAS A RECORD AS WE KNOW FROM FLYING LOCALLY. HE IS KNOWN FOR HIS SHORT FUSE AND BLAMING OTHERS.
