Narrative:

Descending from higher altitude; we were on vectors for dsm. Location was ene of the field. We were given clearance to descend in area of rising terrain. We had partial contacts of the ground; but we were flying in and out of clouds. Controller gave us descent down to 4000 ft with heading 340 degrees; turning to 310 degrees. Egpws caution was activated; and when we were about 4400 ft; egpws warning mode; resolution mode was activated and we reacted. When we were taking evasive action; controller came back and said our altitude was 6000 ft. I repeated every transmission and controller did not make any warning when we made our descent. Then few mins later; when we were on climb to 6000 ft again; controller came on and said 5000 ft. We were misctled at very dangerous area. I repeated and confirmed the xmissions and both of us agreed on it.

Title: SCT CTLR ISSUES DSCNT CLRNC TO BE400 IN AREA OF VARIED TERRAIN. BE400 EXPERIENCES GPWS ALARM AND TAKES EVASIVE ACTION.

Narrative: DSNDING FROM HIGHER ALT; WE WERE ON VECTORS FOR DSM. LOCATION WAS ENE OF THE FIELD. WE WERE GIVEN CLRNC TO DSND IN AREA OF RISING TERRAIN. WE HAD PARTIAL CONTACTS OF THE GROUND; BUT WE WERE FLYING IN AND OUT OF CLOUDS. CTLR GAVE US DSCNT DOWN TO 4000 FT WITH HDG 340 DEGS; TURNING TO 310 DEGS. EGPWS CAUTION WAS ACTIVATED; AND WHEN WE WERE ABOUT 4400 FT; EGPWS WARNING MODE; RESOLUTION MODE WAS ACTIVATED AND WE REACTED. WHEN WE WERE TAKING EVASIVE ACTION; CTLR CAME BACK AND SAID OUR ALT WAS 6000 FT. I REPEATED EVERY XMISSION AND CTLR DID NOT MAKE ANY WARNING WHEN WE MADE OUR DSCNT. THEN FEW MINS LATER; WHEN WE WERE ON CLB TO 6000 FT AGAIN; CTLR CAME ON AND SAID 5000 FT. WE WERE MISCTLED AT VERY DANGEROUS AREA. I REPEATED AND CONFIRMED THE XMISSIONS AND BOTH OF US AGREED ON IT.
