Narrative:

Upon landing in smf; the ground agents informed us that approximately 1000 pounds of ballast was found in the fwd pit which was not listed on the manifest. Unknown to us or them if it was included in the weight and balance. Aircraft was late due to an engine change in ZZZ. Just a guess; but this may have caused the ground crew to be rushed and forget to report the weight.
