Narrative:

After landing while deplaning; a passenger approached my first officer while I was retrieving the paperwork for the next leg; and reported that on approach after we extended the flaps; he saw a wrench in the wing. My first officer asked where he was seated. The passenger was sitting in seat 18A. The first officer called line maintenance. The decision to extend the flaps and speed brakes was made. My copilot sat in seat 18A and observed the reported wrench. He then went outside the aircraft and pulled the wrench out of the wing. It was a 7/8 inch wrench with no other markings on it. He gave it to maintenance who completed the logbook signoff and we completed our assigned flight.
