Narrative:
After slat retraction; we experienced a yellow hydraulic system servo jam warning. We accomplished ECAM and checklist procedures related to this abnormal. An emergency was declared and a return to ZZZ for an overweight landing. An overweight landing was preferred due to the nature of the problem. The landing took place on the longest of ZZZ's runways. The landing was declared as soft; with a sink rate of less than 200 FPM. We did not experience hot brakes and taxied uneventfully back to the terminal. This aircraft does have brake temperature indications on the flight deck.
