Narrative:
Preflight; engine start; taxi out normal. Cleared for takeoff the first officer advanced the throttles slowly to toga. 80 KT power check was normal. At approximately 90 KTS; heard a pop. Aircraft swerved slightly to left. Felt a small but clear vibration. Takeoff was aborted at approximately 100-110 KIAS. First officer notified tower of the abort and asked for emergency equipment. Cleared the runway onto taxiway B. Stopped and had emergency crew check tires and brakes. Called operations to coordination getting a tow in to the gate. On tow in; tires deflated and tow in was stopped and we contacted maintenance. As a note after the abort; another aircraft reported seeing flames coming out of the #1 engine during the takeoff roll.
