Narrative:

During descent into dtw we were cleared to 6000 ft by detroit approach. We were given a traffic report at 11 O'clock position and we advised ATC we had traffic on TCAS and visually looking. I then saw traffic visually. There appeared to be a traffic conversion; so I shallowed my descent; then we were given an RA climb from our TCAS and we complied. We announced to ATC that we were climbing to avoid traffic and the traffic appeared to pass 200-300 ft below us. We advised ATC that we were clear of the conflict and continued our descent to 6000 ft.
