Narrative:
During pushback at dfw I could tell we had a new person pushing the airplane as I could hear her being coached on what to say; etc. All appeared normal although extremely slow on the pushback and the pushback person was clearly not understanding me or the person coaching her. I then heard screaming to the point I almost shut down both engines because I thought she had either been run over or worse she had somehow been sucked into an engine! I cannot describe the horrible thoughts and feelings that went through my mind other than to say I then made visual contact with someone on the left side of the airplane and then heard with great difficulty that they were disconnecting the tow bar. Recently I spoke to the FAA on my jumpseat and he described in great detail about the mechanic who went through the #2 engine. The scream that I heard today made me wonder did I kill someone or did she get crushed because we are training people who obviously don't know what they are doing? This was the most scared I have been as a pilot in nearly 30 yrs of flying airplanes. I would love to go into more detail as to why this has happened; but senior management knows about the outsourcing that is going on and someone is going to be killed; it is just a matter of time before it happens and I just pray that it does not happen on my watch!
