Narrative:
On climb out to FL260; I experienced a sharp and short jolt. First officer was flying with the autoplt engaged. No immediate yawing noticed. Instruments indicated that the right engine rolled back with low N1 and N2 rotation and engine oil pressure. I instructed the first officer to fly and communicate with ATC and that I will accomplish the checklist and coordinate with others. Emergency declared with vectors back to land with arff equipment. No other abnormality in the cabin other than the loud bang from the engine failure. List items given with all flight attendants on communication followed with PA to the passenger. ATC was informed to contact operations about our engine failure. I followed this up with direct VHF communication to dispatch approximately 10 minutes later. First officer flew an uneventful landing and approach. Arff checked engine and tail section and followed us back to the gate.
