Narrative:
I was the PF; the autoplt was engaged; and we were cleared direct on the arrival. At about FL270 we received an ECAM that told us our green hydraulic system accumulator had a low quantity. We saw that the hydraulic page indication was in agreement with this ECAM. We followed the procedures; called maintenance. Maintenance talked to the passenger; the flight attendants; and ATC. We felt like everyone was in the loop and so we proceeded to ZZZ for the visual approach. As a precaution we declared an emergency. The ECAM procedure had us turn the left hydraulic pump back on just before lowering the gear; and the gear came down normally. We landed without incident. Good crew coordination and procedures; the training worked!
