Narrative:
After disconnecting from the tug on apron X; the copilot established communication with ground control. We received instruction to proceed to runway 9L via taxiway I and taxiway B and stay with ground. After turning onto taxiway B; I saw we were going to be behind 2 other aircraft that were approaching the taxiway G. As we approached them from behind; we noticed another smaller aircraft approaching the B/G intersection heading toward runway 9L from our right. The copilot asked if the smaller aircraft was going to stop; while at the same time; I heard ground say something in portuguese that included our air carrier name. Since we received no radio contact from ground; I assumed that we could continue taxiing. The smaller aircraft stopped; and we continued. At this point; the other 2 aircraft had continued well ahead of me. As I proceeded to taxi; I noticed the runway 9L/27R sign on my left and immediately stopped the aircraft. I wasn't sure if I had crossed the hold short line or not. We called tower; and tower asked where we were going. The copilot replied; 'ZZZ.' subsequently; the tower landed 2 aircraft before we took off on runway 9L. The landing aircraft seemed to have no problem with clearance. The next evening when we departed gru for ZZZ; I checked out the taxiway G for the hold short line. The only one I could see was the one for ILS critical area. I apparently passed that; but was still clear of the runway.

Title: A B777 PLT RPTS NOT SEEING THE SBGR RWY 9L HOLD SHORT LINE.
Narrative: AFTER DISCONNECTING FROM THE TUG ON APRON X; THE COPLT ESTABLISHED COM WITH GND CTL. WE RECEIVED INSTRUCTION TO PROCEED TO RWY 9L VIA TXWY I AND TXWY B AND STAY WITH GND. AFTER TURNING ONTO TXWY B; I SAW WE WERE GOING TO BE BEHIND 2 OTHER ACFT THAT WERE APCHING THE TXWY G. AS WE APCHED THEM FROM BEHIND; WE NOTICED ANOTHER SMALLER ACFT APCHING THE B/G INTXN HEADING TOWARD RWY 9L FROM OUR R. THE COPLT ASKED IF THE SMALLER ACFT WAS GOING TO STOP; WHILE AT THE SAME TIME; I HEARD GND SAY SOMETHING IN PORTUGUESE THAT INCLUDED OUR ACR NAME. SINCE WE RECEIVED NO RADIO CONTACT FROM GND; I ASSUMED THAT WE COULD CONTINUE TAXIING. THE SMALLER ACFT STOPPED; AND WE CONTINUED. AT THIS POINT; THE OTHER 2 ACFT HAD CONTINUED WELL AHEAD OF ME. AS I PROCEEDED TO TAXI; I NOTICED THE RWY 9L/27R SIGN ON MY L AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE ACFT. I WASN'T SURE IF I HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE OR NOT. WE CALLED TWR; AND TWR ASKED WHERE WE WERE GOING. THE COPLT REPLIED; 'ZZZ.' SUBSEQUENTLY; THE TWR LANDED 2 ACFT BEFORE WE TOOK OFF ON RWY 9L. THE LNDG ACFT SEEMED TO HAVE NO PROB WITH CLRNC. THE NEXT EVENING WHEN WE DEPARTED GRU FOR ZZZ; I CHKED OUT THE TXWY G FOR THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE ONLY ONE I COULD SEE WAS THE ONE FOR ILS CRITICAL AREA. I APPARENTLY PASSED THAT; BUT WAS STILL CLR OF THE RWY.
