Narrative:
We have a call for pitch trim switch (first officer's side) inoperative. I took the call and went to get the switch from stock. I was informed that we did not have the switch in stock and there were none in the system. Mr X came to help me. We checked for other system that may affect first officer's pitch trim problem. I was called by my supervisor to cannibalize the switch from aircraft at the hangar. I went to the hangar; print the amm page (pre mod) said note: unsolder the wires; and 4(a) (post mod) disconnect wires from the new pitch trim switch. I assumed it was just unsolder. Aircraft first officer's pitch trim switch was just solder also. Last night as I was leaving I met avionics tech. I gave him a turnover report for aircraft. He informed that there was a new pitch trim switch with harness. This morning I went to research engineering technical notes and ipc. I am now aware that there is a new part number for the switch.
