Narrative:

Rain showers in the vicinity; windshear in several quadrants. Aircraft informed of a loss of 20 KTS 1 mi of departure end of runway. Pilot acknowledged and elected to depart. After departure and within 1 mi of the departure end the local controller ask if there was any perceived change in airspeed. The pilot reported no change; either plus or minus in airspeed after takeoff. This phenomenon has been observed by myself and other controllers numerous times at tpa. I feel strongly that the wind measuring equipment is erroneous and causing undue delays to the aviation community.

Title: TPA CTLR EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING THE ACCURACY OF THE TWR WIND EQUIP.

Narrative: RAIN SHOWERS IN THE VICINITY; WINDSHEAR IN SEVERAL QUADRANTS. ACFT INFORMED OF A LOSS OF 20 KTS 1 MI OF DEP END OF RWY. PLT ACKNOWLEDGED AND ELECTED TO DEPART. AFTER DEP AND WITHIN 1 MI OF THE DEP END THE LCL CTLR ASK IF THERE WAS ANY PERCEIVED CHANGE IN AIRSPD. THE PLT RPTED NO CHANGE; EITHER PLUS OR MINUS IN AIRSPD AFTER TKOF. THIS PHENOMENON HAS BEEN OBSERVED BY MYSELF AND OTHER CTLRS NUMEROUS TIMES AT TPA. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THE WIND MEASURING EQUIP IS ERRONEOUS AND CAUSING UNDUE DELAYS TO THE AVIATION COMMUNITY.
