Narrative:
After takeoff; noticed very strong burning smell in cockpit. The smell increased in intensity. EICAS message 'forward equipment exhaust' fan followed by its circuit breaker popped. Declared emergency; leveled 6000 ft; had been cleared to 11000 ft. Returned and landed. Soft touchdown 150-200 FPM. Landing weight approximately 335000 pounds. Overweight landing logged.
