Narrative:
Filed and cleared (via pre departure clearance; which is in my hand as I write this) sfo OFFSH5 sxc sna. Loaded OFFSH5 departure; no transition; direct sxc; direct sna into FMGC during preflight; and confirmed route with captain. OFFSH5 departure ends at mckey intersection; with no transition. A few mins after passing mckey; ZLA inquired if we were on an assigned heading. We replied that we were going direct to sxc; as cleared. ZLA responded that we should have been on the sxc transition; which would have taken us from mckey to daisy intersection. We were then given a 120 degree heading to join the flw R123 for the tandy arrival to sna.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR PLT NOTES A TRACK DEV BECAUSE OF A CONFUSING PDC FORMAT INDICATED DIRECT TO A FIX WHEN IN FACT A TRANSITION VIA INTXNS WAS CORRECT.
Narrative: FILED AND CLRED (VIA PDC; WHICH IS IN MY HAND AS I WRITE THIS) SFO OFFSH5 SXC SNA. LOADED OFFSH5 DEP; NO TRANSITION; DIRECT SXC; DIRECT SNA INTO FMGC DURING PREFLT; AND CONFIRMED RTE WITH CAPT. OFFSH5 DEP ENDS AT MCKEY INTXN; WITH NO TRANSITION. A FEW MINS AFTER PASSING MCKEY; ZLA INQUIRED IF WE WERE ON AN ASSIGNED HDG. WE REPLIED THAT WE WERE GOING DIRECT TO SXC; AS CLRED. ZLA RESPONDED THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE SXC TRANSITION; WHICH WOULD HAVE TAKEN US FROM MCKEY TO DAISY INTXN. WE WERE THEN GIVEN A 120 DEG HDG TO JOIN THE FLW R123 FOR THE TANDY ARR TO SNA.
