Narrative:
While en route to ZZZ1 at FL280 in cruise for approximately 30 mins; a loop #2 mid illuminated with a single chime. Approximately 5 seconds later B loop #2 mid illuminated accompanied by red smoke light and crc continuous repetitive chime. Red master warning and red ecams. Put on mask 100% emergency headset; and declared emergency. Increased speed to bottom of red zipper. We were about 70-80 mi from ZZZ2. Got altimeter setting and WX for ZZZ2 -- 1800 ft broken 6 mi; shot ILS; runway 1R; landed with medium brake. Cleared runway with high speed taxiway; set parking brake; made sure aircraft depressurized. Opened cockpit window; shut off engines and all power except batteries. Talked to fire truck on #1 radio who confirmed there were no hot spots reported on aircraft with thermal imaging. Had firemen check brakes for smoke and possible fire; reported that they were not hot and no fire. Called company and requested tug. Exited with help from maintenance through left door and relinquished control to maintenance. While en route first officer completed red ecams; ran QRH procedure; assisted with checklists. The first officer was superb in helping us achieving an uneventful landing in approximately 13 mins.
