Narrative:

My student was to conduct a local solo training flight. Student is working towards his private sel certificate. This was his second solo and first flight away from the airport. The received all the proper training and was endorsed as necessary for the flight. He departed the airport well and apparently naved to the approved airport (satellite airport) for landing practice. Upon landing; the student lost directional control and departed the runway. To avoid hitting runway lights; the student ended up; reported; 30 ft off the runway. The student then shut the aircraft down and called myself and the flight school. There were no injuries or damage reported. WX in the area yielded less than 10 KTS of crosswind and no gusts. I felt comfortable in allowing the student to solo; not finding the WX beyond his limitations/ability. I honestly feel every logical measure to prevent this situation was considered and the occurrence was due simply to low flight time and bad luck.

THE RECEIVED ALL THE PROPER TRAINING AND WAS ENDORSED AS NECESSARY FOR THE FLT. HE DEPARTED THE ARPT WELL AND APPARENTLY NAVED TO THE APPROVED ARPT (SATELLITE ARPT) FOR LNDG PRACTICE. UPON LNDG; THE STUDENT LOST DIRECTIONAL CTL AND DEPARTED THE RWY. TO AVOID HITTING RWY LIGHTS; THE STUDENT ENDED UP; RPTED; 30 FT OFF THE RWY. THE STUDENT THEN SHUT THE ACFT DOWN AND CALLED MYSELF AND THE FLT SCHOOL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE RPTED. WX IN THE AREA YIELDED LESS THAN 10 KTS OF XWIND AND NO GUSTS. I FELT COMFORTABLE IN ALLOWING THE STUDENT TO SOLO; NOT FINDING THE WX BEYOND HIS LIMITATIONS/ABILITY. I HONESTLY FEEL EVERY LOGICAL MEASURE TO PREVENT THIS SIT WAS CONSIDERED AND THE OCCURRENCE WAS DUE SIMPLY TO LOW FLT TIME AND BAD LUCK.
