Narrative:
Approach control withheld descent clearance until it was too late to get down and make a successful ILS runway 4 approach at mlu. From the time we were cleared for descent from 9000 ft we were in a constant descent at 1000 FPM until reaching the map at the airport. We were never able to intercept the GS before reaching the map resulting in a missed approach in IMC conditions at night. The monroe controllers do not understand descent profiles for piston engine aircraft!
